Taylor Swift Releases ‘The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore’ With Four New Songs

Taylor Swift has extended the Showgirl era. The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore arrived on Friday, September 25, just two days after she announced it.

The new edition adds four previously unreleased songs to The Life of a Showgirl, which came out in October 2025 and set the record for the biggest first week of any album.

The four new songs

  1. “Patient Zero” (3:45)
  2. “Cleveland!” (3:26)
  3. “Pink Clouding” (3:10)
  4. “Babylon” (3:39)

The additions bring the Showgirl era to 16 tracks in total.

Back to Sweden

Like the original album, the new songs were written in Sweden with pop producers Max Martin and Shellback. The pair co-wrote many of Swift’s biggest hits, including “Shake It Off” and “Blank Space”, and returned as her main collaborators on Showgirl.

Fans react

“Cleveland!” quickly became a talking point online, and the Cleveland Cavaliers joined in by celebrating the song on social media. Fans also noticed that the release shared a date with Marvel’s re-release of Avengers: Endgame, branded as an “Encore”, sparking a wave of jokes and memes.

Why release an encore?

Deluxe editions and bonus tracks are a proven way to keep an album on the charts. New songs bring listeners back to streaming services and can add another big sales week. Swift has used the strategy before, releasing extra tracks and alternate versions to extend the life of Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department.

The timing also matters for awards. Albums released after August 28, 2026 fall into the eligibility window for the 2028 Grammys, so the new songs could become contenders in the following cycle.

What comes next

After the Eras Tour, which ran from 2023 to 2024 and became the highest-grossing concert tour of all time, fans are watching closely for any sign of new dates.
